Senior Accountant

SENIOR ACCOUNTANT

Our client, a hedge fund manager with approximately $1.4 billion in assets under management – is seeking Senior Accountant for its team. This is an opportunity for someone seeking to learn and grow through exposure to a range of responsibilities across accounting, tax, operations, and investor relations. Our client invests in a broad range of asset classes with various complexities, as such, this role is for a driven, talented candidate that likes a challenge. 
 

RESPONSIBILITIES

Financial Reporting:

  • Work closely with the controller, assistant controllers and fund administrator on the monthly NAV process (e.g., reviewing reconciliations, TBs, and investor allocations and statements)
  • Assist with maintaining shadow books
  • Participate in the valuation process (e.g., review broker quotes/internal models, liaise with analysts, prepare a monthly valuation memo to management)
  • Compile data for regulatory filings (e.g., ADV, Form PF, 13F, 13D/G’s)
  • Assist with management company accounting
  • Tax and Audit Process Management:
  • Assist controller and assistant controllers in managing and preparing support for the audit; coordinate between the fund administrator and auditor
  • Assist with the financial statement preparation process
  • Perform tax analysis as part of the annual K-1 process; assist controller and assistant controller in managing and preparing support for the K-1 and tax returns, including assisting in the coordination with the tax preparers
  • Perform analyses to facilitate the tax and audit processes

Investor Reporting:

  • Assist the controller and assistant controllers in the preparation of quarterly investor materials (e.g., marketing presentations, DDQs)
  • Perform analyses for use with investor relations

Operations:

  • Communicate with prime brokers regarding investment activity and reporting
  • Perform daily reconciliations and ISDA collateral analyses
  • Research and resolve differences with prime broker (e.g., review corporate actions; interest calculations)

Projects:

  • Ad-hoc research and other special projects

 

MUST HAVE

  • 4-6 years of accounting experience with hedge fund/investment company focus
  • Mix of public/private accounting and finance management (preferred)
  • BA/BS degree (a CPA is preferred)
  • Understanding of hedge fund accounting, multiple asset classes (options, swaps, fixed income, etc.)
  • Detail oriented
  • Strong Excel skills
  • An ownership mindset (a must)
  • Team player with the ability to work independently
  • Positive attitude – will take on any task with enthusiasm

 

COMPENSATION

  • Up to $125,000 – $150,000 per year
